DISITRON SATELLITE DEPLOYS A SKYDSL® NETWORK
San Francisco CA December 20 2003--Ricardo Dias, CEO of Disitron Satellite Group, said, "We selected ALOHA’s IP Networking solution after benchmarking a variety of alternative products. The premium broadband experience, the high reliability, and the ease of installation offered by the SkyDSL Network were key decision factors." Dias continued by saying, "Our desire to implement the latest system technology, which provides higher performance for every user, low system operating cost, and the ability to support a large number of active users without system degradation is critical.” After completing the initial SkyDSL installations, Dias noted, “We are very pleased with the consistent uplink speed for every user, the ease of installation, and the low system latency for our customers."
Disitron SkyDSL service in Western Africa supports cyber cafés, Internet kiosks, distance learning, and small and medium enterprise business communications. Disitron located their SkyDSL Network at a teleport in Virginia to take advantage of the reliable, high-speed Internet access available in the USA. Inside the teleport, Disitron uses the SkyDSL SAMA® Receiver for the high-availability uplink (return channel) and industry-standard DVB for the downlink (forward channel).
Stephen Hester, ALOHA’s President and COO, said, “ALOHA Networks is proud to be working closely with Disitron as they deliver Internet access to a variety of locations in remote and underserved areas throughout Western Africa.” Hester continued, “We believe the SkyDSL Network is an ideal solution for Disitron, as it provides the highest number of active users per available bandwidth without degradation of the users’ experience.”
With the SkyDSL Network, the Internet or data access is deployed speedily and effortlessly to global locations not reachable by traditional landlines. The SkyDSL Network can also be employed as a redundant service to existing T1/E1, ISDN, or other terrestrial connections. The SkyDSL Network uses the patented SAMA (Spread ALOHA® Multiple Access) technology to alleviate the return channel bottleneck, offering cost-effective, high-speed, IP Networking to reach globally diverse and underserved areas over existing communication satellites. SAMA technology provides Disitron with the ability to support over 700 active users during peak periods and up to 6,000 subscribers on the network. It is also scalable to much larger networks.
